COMPARISON DATA SHEET FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL CABLES |
CAB CABLE RINGS | CABLE TIES & LASHING |
- Quick and easy to install. Takes only 3-5 seconds to install a cable ring on the messenger wire.
| - Longer installation time and added labor expense. Cable ties take 2-3 times longer for installation.
|
- Less maintenance with life expectancy of 25 years plus. high tensile, sturdy .125" x .225" galvanized steel, copper clad steel or type 316 stainless steel is extremely resistant to corrosion and will last the life of any installation.
| - Shorter life expectancy. Thin gauge material in cable ties and lashing wire will corrode and require replacement much sooner. In many cases retying or relashing is necessary one or more times during the life of the system adding to material and labor cost.
|
- Easier on your hands during installation. Material is .125" thick with smooth rounded edges.
| - Cable tie material is much thinner with sharper edges which can cause cuts on your hands during installation.
|
- Stable in every type of weather extreme.
| - Cable ties can degrade with heat, cold and UV exposure. This deterioration can cause them to pop off in hot or cold weather with movement of the messenger wire.
|
| |
- Most flexible system on the market. You can easily remove old cables, change cables or pull through new cables with no additional parts and minimum labor.
| - Least flexible system. Adding or changing cables requires cutting off cable ties and adding all new ones. High amount of additional labor required with greater safety risk.
